In this section I will be displaying some of the planning our group showed for creating our opening sequence.
Making props
Me and another member of my group made a short video of us making some props for a part of our opening sequence, we made 4 numbered signs that will be used in a police line up.
First production meeting
We have made a video of our first production meeting, we discussed everything from lighting down to images on the screen and text, a member of my group has sped it up and made it grayscale, I have also added some pictures of our paper after the meeting so our ideas are clearly shown.
Questionaire
Our group made a clip of a few people answering some questions we made up about genres and opening sequences, this is to help us find our target audience and how we should arrange our further planning and evidently our opening sequence.
Second production meeting
We made a video of our second production meeting, in this meeting we discussed and drew up a rough plan of our storyboard to determine how our opening sequence will pan out, we discussed how each scene will look in terms of lighting, image and sound. We made this being aware that their might be changes so we will update our ideas as and when they change.
Brainstorming titles and reasons
We filmed our group discussing ideas on a whiteboard of what our title was going to be and why the mystery killer is committing these crimes, our titles were Relentless, Hesitance, The WRITE of PASSAGE, The Switch and Vengeance, our reasons why were Split Personality, Relationships, Religion, Family, Revenge. We each chose a couple of the best ideas to narrow them down, then made a list to send out and ask people what title and reason they thought was the best, so we could analyse what our target audience wanted, I have tallied them up and the winner title was between The WRITE of PASSAGE and The Switch and the winner reason why was Split Personality. We have decided our title will be The WRITE of PASSAGE, and our reason is split personality. I have attached a picture of our storyboard of ideas then our groups tallys and the final count up.
Planning characters
Today we will be filming potential characters for our opening sequence and doing screen shots. this helps us to analyse who suits the role the best, and then we can move on with our final preparations.
Age rating
We have to come up with an age range for our movie, also we have to think about everything that comes along with that age rating and how it enhances our film but also the drawbacks of it. We have decided to use the age range of 15. This age range tells views that the movie is not entirely pc but its not too gory or rude, 15 rating broadens our target audience and opens it up to the majority of teenagers. What might contain in a 15 rating film, strong violence, frequent strong language, portrayals of sexual activity, strong verbal references to sex, sexual nudity, brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence, discriminatory language or behaviour, drug taking.
Locations
We have decided to do take pictures in different locations to test where we should film our opening sequence, we have also made a short video in a drama studio where we will do most of our filming, as it creates a dark eery feel. we chose some of these locations as it fits with the genre of our film and how we want to represent it, some benefits and drawbacks to these locations are. Benefits of the location: quite isolated so no distractions or noises whilst filming, a lot of natural light for shooting and the background is plain with no posters in it so focus is solely on the body. Drawbacks of the location: location alongside with weather will make shoot very windy which may interfere with shooting and there may be some dangers surrounding the location as plants are surrounded by water which has no barrier around it.
