In this blog post I will be analysing 3 dvd/poster covers to show the micro and macro effects that the director is trying to portray within the film. you have micro effects in every film/play/DVD cover and poster, because these subtle textures leave a hint in the audiences mind of how the film is going to turn out.
Micro effects are the setting, costumes, background colour, colour of the costumes, body languages, camera angles, lighting etc..
Macro effects are the narrative, representation, genre and ideology
The genres that I will be analysing are horror (the wake wood movie poster) romantic comedy (forgetting sarah marshal) and childrens animation (ratatouille movie).

Analysed DVD covers
I have analysed these movie posters on paper and added them to the blog.
Genre
Genre a style or category of art, music, film or literature, genre is the start basic of any media production as it sets the scene for the whole movie and tells the audience what production they'll be watching/reading. There are a wide range of genres including Romantic Comedy to animation through to Horror. Genre is there to suit different peoples needs and wants o a film. In our opening sequence our genre will be mystery thriller, this genres gives the audience an understanding that it might be scary and haunting but you my also have to think about what's happening.
Some extra research our group is doing for our genre is we will each watch a movie of our chosen genre (mystery, thriller) and write about and discuss the opening sequence. The film I will be watching is the film s7ven.
